For some reason the Nokia Application Installer is not starting anymore after a click on a SIS or SISX file. I have to manually start the Application Installer from the PC suite menu to be able to install a SIS or SISX file. I uninstalled PC suite and reinstalled it again, but still the problem persists.. I've checked the SIS and SISX file extentions settings in Windows explorer and everything seems to be ok. I'm using Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2 and Nokia PC suite 6.84.10.4.

If you open a command window, and enter the following commands, do the results also look as below?
C:\>assoc .sis
.sis=Nokia.ApplicationInstaller
C:\>assoc .sisx
.sisx=Nokia.ApplicationInstaller
C:\>ftype Nokia.ApplicationInstaller
Nokia.ApplicationInstaller=C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia PC Suite 6\ApplicationInstaller.exe "%1"
C:\>
If not, post the output of the commands (in particular the ftype command) in your PC.
C:\>assoc .sis
.sis=Nokia.ApplicationInstaller
C:\>assoc .sisx
.sisx=Nokia.ApplicationInstaller
C:\>ftype Nokia.ApplicationInstaller
Nokia.ApplicationInstaller=C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia PC Suite 6\ApplicationInstaller.exe "%1"
C:\>

The results are :
C:\>assoc .sis
.sis=Nokia.ApplicationInstaller
C:\>assoc .sisx
.sisx=Nokia.ApplicationInstaller
C:\>ftype Nokia.ApplicationInstaller
Nokia.ApplicationInstaller=C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia PC Suite 6\ApplicationInstaller.exe "%1"
So exactly like it should be.
When I open my taskmanager I notice that when clicking on a sis or sisx the ApplicationInstaller.exe runs for a second and closes down again.

Most peculiar. Does uninstalling and reinstalling PC Suite help?

No it does not help. I even tried the PC suite cleaner to remove everyting from the registry and reinstalled PC suite but it does not help, the problem is still there. I don't have any virus scanner or program running that would block the application installer from running. When I select the Application installer from the PC suite main screen it runs just fine. I'm really puzzeled with this ;-)

Fixed the problem :
- Removed Nokia PC suite.
- Installed the N series PC suite.
- Removed the N series PC suite.
- Installed the Nokia PC suite again...
=> Weird!
- Removed Nokia PC suite.
- Installed the N series PC suite.
- Removed the N series PC suite.
- Installed the Nokia PC suite again...
=> Weird!
