While upgrading my N73 to v3.0638.0.0.1 the phone just resets at the start of the upgrade and an error is shown that the update was failed. What could be the reason?

Try another USB-port and let your pc reinstall the cabledriver. It helped for me.

nah it doesnt work. I had similar problem with the original poster of this topic. tried everything but it just doesnt work. during the update process phone would just reset itself then NSU says update fail.

oh, i have the same problem too. Product Code is :0529815. Please help. Need the newest firmware. Phone has problem with contacts and activating loudspeaker.

typical: interesting firmware you have there... Anyway, perhaps NSU doesn't recognize your current firmware as an 'official' one and has problems because of that. Read about other people who flashed their phone with that unofficial/unapproved firmware having problems as well.

Haha, yes indeed it is interesting. I brought my phone to the local Nokia Care Centre as it died on me while I was trying to update the firmware via NSU. They replaced an internal component (they refused to tell me which part), and updated the firmware to the version you see above.

So now knowing that there is another newer version out there, I tried to update again, but it is not working mind you, all this happens within the last few days only. Any recommended solution?

First of all, you could, and should, really, disable ALL Antivirus and Firewall software (including any other software that might "Proxy" internet- or local traffic on your PC, i.e. all protection software) |BEFORE starting the update. NSU needs FREE and UNHAMPERED access to your phone. Strange as it may sound, Norton Antivirus is one of the programs that has a knack of preventing just that, because it scans and inspects every tiny little thing that happens on your PC. And if it doesn't trust something for 100% (and NSU is one of those things -- just do not ask me why) it just blocks it. Most of the time this happens without asking... So you could start with just disabling all this software temporarily...

Well, I have tried all of that and it still doesn't work! I also have tried on another computer, with everything off, and which have a history of being able to update another N73, but it just cannot update my N73!!

You say you even tried another computer eh? Sounds like you're bound to going to an NSP! Something appears to be the matter with the Master Block of the phone... It's not as convenient, however, updates done by NSP's are FREE OF CHARGE!

You're almost right... Nokia Service POINT... This is where you can go for Nokia service if NSU fails or if there is any other kind of problem. Whilst within the warranty period, they do free updates. And if you've done such an update, you will even be able to use NSU!
